What Health Checks Do I Need From 10 to 19? My Personal Health Timeline

Growing Body & Preventive Health

If something feels unsafe or urgent

You can always get help, whatever your age, without an account.

Between 10 and 19 you need a handful of simple checks: growth and blood pressure, vaccines, mental-health check-ins, and — once you are sexually active — HIV and STI testing.

What's happening

Adolescent healthcare is mostly prevention. A yearly visit that takes 20 minutes catches iron deficiency, high blood pressure, vision problems, mood difficulties and missed vaccines long before they become serious.

Usually normal

  • Yearly height, weight and blood pressure checks
  • HPV and tetanus vaccination during school years
  • HIV testing every 6 to 12 months once sexually active
  • A mental-health check-in as part of a normal visit

Get checked if

  • A breast lump, or bleeding between periods
  • Losing weight without trying
  • Persistent tiredness, headaches or breathlessness

Your next step

Build your health timeline: write down your last vaccine, your last clinic visit and your last HIV test, then book whichever is overdue.
